National Grant Launch Event
The Dakchyata National Grant Launch event was held on 6 November 2017 in the capital, Kathmandu, and followed by regional launches the same week in four other cities - Pokhara, Dhankuta, Nepalgunj, and Lahan.
The event informed stakeholders of the Grant objectives and clarified queries from potential grant applicants on grant procedures, criteria and eligibility. There were more than 120 interested participants at the national launch. The public notices which announced the outset of the launches and the launch of the project website including the pre-grant information sharing workshops contributed to wider public awareness of the event and the grant component of the project. Similarly, the regional launches saw significant participation and interest from potential applicants. A number of relevant queries were raised, with clarifications to be posted on the website as Frequently Asked Questions on 16 November and 2 December.
The National grant launch event was widely covered by the media and attended by key stakeholders including representatives from Donor Partners, contributing to greater public awareness on the project and its modalities, particularly on the grant fund component. This was further validated by remarks from chief guest, Dr. Hari Prasad Lamsal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education, who emphasised the role of the Government in harmonizing TVET reform through the National TVET Fund and review of TVET policy 2012.
Likewise, Andreas Roettger, Head of Cooperation from the EU Delegation to Nepal mentioned: "Innovative public private partnerships –which we want to create with Dakchyata - bear the potential for Nepal's TVET sector to stimulate sustainable economic growth and better employment opportunities for all." Other key speakers included representatives from CTEVT and FNCCI. Dr. Jovan Ilic, Country Director British Council closed the formal sessions and provided a vote of thanks.
